Subbing

I'm getting ready to sub this week for four days...in a row!  I am not sure that I'm exactly ready for it.  No, really, I'm subbing for my friend who is probably the BEST Kindergarten teacher in the country, maybe the world.  She will have everything ready and waiting for me.

I've been in her class twice earlier in the year, so I know the kids, which makes it a whole lot easier.Tonight I'm trying to get a few meals together so that when I come home I can at least pop something into the oven with a view to heading to bed early.

Speaking of early, must go and make lunch for tomorrow so I can hit the sack. Five-thirty a.m. will come pretty early tomorrow.

Happy New Year

It has been 2010 for three days now.

We rang in the new year with our friends in Trophy Club and two couples they have known for over 25 years, plus us and another "new" couple.  We had a great time eating and drinking, playing Catchphrase and bowling with the Wii system.  Best part was being able to stay the night and not worry about our 45 minute drive home!

New Years' Day we spent eating and visiting still in north Tarrrant County.  While the husbands watched and slept through the new Star Wars, new babies were visited.  The first was without me as I had to have a wee nap to counteract going to bed at 3:00 am.  I did get dressed and presentable to meet the newest of our hosts' grandchildren, sweet little girl born on December 28.

After suitable oohing and aahing, we packed up and headed for the south end of the county. There, we just kind of collapsed.  We are not as young as we once were, late nights take it out of us!  And it takes longer to recover.

Today, TBO and I went up to Irving to have breakfast with a college dorm-mate of mine who "found" me on Facebook!  It was the first time in about 30 years we had seen one another.  I am happy to say it was fun, and that I will definitely be getting in touch with her when I am in OKC next time.  I had found some pictures from our sophomore year at OSU and their wedding to share.  Where did those long, lean young women go?  Where did my red hair go?  Ah, the mysteries of life!

Anyway, happy new year to all.  May the year be one of peace, joy, and new awareness of the One Who has our lives in His hands.
